Frequently Asked Questions

At Tiny Hearts, we prioritize your comfort and emotional well-being above all else. As trained professionals, we ensure that every session is conducted safely and comfortably, taking the time to explain everything you see on the monitor. Because we treat everyone like family, you can trust that your experience in our Waco studio will be defined by genuine empathy and a commitment to your family's peace of mind.

Do I need a full bladder?

For our early reassurance sessions starting at 6 weeks, a full bladder is recommended to help provide the clearest possible view of your baby. As your pregnancy progresses into the second and third trimesters for 3D/4D sessions, a full bladder is typically no longer necessary, though staying well-hydrated in the days leading up to your appointment is always encouraged for optimal image clarity.

Is ultrasound safe?

Yes, elective ultrasound is a safe way to bond with your baby during pregnancy. At Tiny Hearts, we utilize state-of-the-art technology and follow professional standards to ensure that every session is conducted safely and comfortably for both mother and child.

Does ultrasound hurt the baby?

Ultrasound technology uses sound waves, not radiation, to create images and does not hurt the baby. Our goal is to provide a calm, clean, and safe setting where you can enjoy the amazing experience of seeing your little one's face and hearing their heartbeat for the first time.

Do I need insurance?

No, you do not need insurance to visit Tiny Hearts. Because our 3D, 4D, and HD Live imaging are elective services, they are not covered by insurance and do not require a medical referral. This allows us to focus entirely on the emotional connection and providing a peaceful, boutique experience that is the opposite of a standard doctor's office visit.

What is the best week in pregnancy for 3D/4D ultrasound?

While we can capture beautiful images at various stages, the best time for a 3D/4D ultrasound is generally between 26 and 32 weeks. During this window, the baby has developed enough facial fat to show clear features, but still has enough room and amniotic fluid around them to be easily seen.

How soon in my pregnancy can I get an ultrasound?

We offer early bonding and reassurance services starting as early as 6 weeks of gestation. These early visits are wonderful for hearing the heartbeat for the first time and providing mothers and families with peace of mind during the initial stages of pregnancy.

Can I bring my family and friends?

Absolutely. We believe that ultrasound is a vital way of family bonding, and we encourage you to bring your loved ones to share in the joy of seeing the baby. Our Waco studio is a loving environment designed to accommodate your family so everyone can feel connected to the new addition.

What is the difference between elective and diagnostic ultrasound?

Our services are elective, meaning they are focused on the emotional connection and family bonding rather than medical diagnosis. While our trained professionals ensure a safe experience and can provide limited information, these sessions do not replace the diagnostic ultrasounds performed by your primary healthcare provider.

How should I prepare for my 3D/4D session?

The best way to prepare is to increase your water intake for at least three to five days before your appointment. Proper hydration increases the amount and clarity of the amniotic fluid, which acts as a window for the ultrasound, allowing for the most realistic and high-definition views of your baby's facial features and expressions.
